5.17. Radical and shatunny bearings - check and selection

1. Radical and shatunny bearings at major maintenance  of the engine  are subject  to the obligatory  replacement, however the bearings which were in operation should be checked carefully to restore the general condition of the engine at the moment of repair.
2. Causes of destruction of bearings of a cranked shaft are insufficient greasing because of the wrong assembly (overlapping of channels, a small gap), pollution and penetration of extraneous particles (untimely replacement of oil and the filter, violation of consolidations), frequent overloads of the engine and corrosion (is caused by frequent short trips). Irrespective of the reason which has caused destruction of bearings, it is necessary to eliminate it.
3. If the crankshaft is not перешлифовываться, it is necessary to pick up bearings of standard dimensional group (after repolishing of necks only repair bearings are established). After selection it is necessary to check gaps in bearings.
